Throwback Poetry: ‘Nature’s Fury’ (2008)

Madwoman frenetic tossing dirt from her hair
Tower tall trees shudder and torpedo fronded needles in the air
Exotic petals and flowers purple the wind
And the Devil in Green demands “Let me in”
The Tempest she thrashes she shreds and she weeds
Flung out in rages her premature seeds
Branches twist back in a wicked embrace
And the Devil in Green shows delight on her face
The wind capers and gibbers and mauls at the eve
Spawning poltergeists among butchered leaves
The delicacy of gay flowers end in rampant beheadings
And the Devil in Green yammers and sings
Lest we be caught unaware of her deadly beauty
She destroys what she creates, it’s her sacred duty
Creator, protector, destroyer, judge and jury
Beware Mother Nature when in the throes of her fury
